USPS links won't connect

more options

I get the USPS informed delivery emails that show what mail is arriving daily. Whenever I click the "dashboard" link, I get:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit. If I go to the site, and click a link, the same thing happens. This doesn't happen with Chrome where links function normally. So, I think there must be a setting somewhere preventing me from accessing the links. I tried turning off "Block pop-up windows," but that had no effect.

Thanks, Ed

Do you have a smartphone? They have a USPS apps for smartphone, if you have one this is what I would use to track.

Typically, the only header field that grows and grows to a point that it might exceed a limit is the cookies field. You can try clearing cookies the USPS site has set on Firefox over the years and then try again. Here's how -- note this will sign you out, so make sure you know your login:

If you can access any page on the USPS site:

While viewing a page on the site, click the lock icon at the left end of the address bar. After a moment, a "Clear Cookies and Site Data" button should appear at the bottom. Go ahead and click that. Firefox will ask you to confirm; go ahead and confirm.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

If you cannot access any page on the USPS site:

On the Settings page, Privacy & Security panel, in the "Cookies and Site data" section:

  • Click the "Manage Data" button
  • In the filter box, enter usps
  • Individually remove the matching site(s)
  • Save your change

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
