when I check my mail from MSN.com it reads: shared.live.com is this correct or is my e-mail being shared with someone else?

after I logged onto mozilla.com, In the browser I typed in msn.com and tried to check my e-mail account. 2 things are happening, when I click on my e-mail 1x it is saying it is reading the e-mail but it is not actually opening it until I click it a second time, and then it opens it. It is also saying on the bottom of the screen instead of javascript is reads: shared.live.com - Is the e-mail hacked?

Alright, so quick explanation of urls first:

Http://shared.live.com

http:// = the protocol; this tells the browser what set of rules to use (you generally don't have to worry about this)

shared = sub-domain; this is basically a name for a part of the bigger site.

live.com = domain & domain extension; This is the website you are on.

The last part, live.com is the site you are on. If it was live.shared.com, this would NOT be part of the live.com site. However, since it's shared.live.com, you are still on live.com. Mail.live.com is ok as well, but live.mail.com wouldn't be. So you are in the section of live.com called "shared".

Live.com is actually Windows Live. Windows Live is the site responsible for Windows Live Mail, Hotmail, and MSN Mail. So, in short, you are safe, they just use a very confusing name for their site.

Personally, I really wish they wouldn't do things the way they do; it makes me nervous too having my email URL changing when I log in.

Thanks! What about the clicking 1x on the email and it says its reading it but not opening it. I have to then click it again before it will actually open.
