Firefox 14.0.1

I no longer have favicons in address bar (awesome bar):

All that shows is a a generic graphic(globe?) that is grayed out.

I do however still have fevicons in my bookmarks list.

Thanks for your help!

Seçilen çözüm

The Site Identity Button has changed to protect users from hackers trying to "spoof" legitimate looking site buttons. The site icon will still appear on bookmarks and on tabs, but not at the left end of the Location/URL bar.

To restore site icons to the Location/URL bar, try one of the following new Add-ons:

There is an Add-on to add some additional color to the new button --> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/site-identity-button-colors/ (has only been preliminarily reviewd by Firefox; click here to learn more about what that means)

Thanks!

Sorry to see these changes though.

The browser was great before the recent "fixes."

Repeat, from another, similar thread, here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/929460?page=2

Now I'm just sayin'...

Install ANOTHER add-on to fix something that Fx "broke" that will itself, in turn, be broken when Fx updates again in 6 weeks...

Would have been nice if They had told us IN BIG BOLD LETTERS They had done this on the Firefox Features page which opens after new install. I just checked, & yep, it's there, but you have to dig for it--it's NOT obvious. I just spent a week bitchin' out Glary Utilities 'cuz it hijacked my search page, and, as I had installed it the same day I updated Fx, I blamed the bland, ugly globe on THEM!

Bet we ALL read that "What's NEW" page a bit more closely in future!

Live & learn; die & forget it all...

Disregard. Edited above; don't know how to delete this one.

I honestly fail to see the point of this update.

How does a site visitor know the favicon appearing in the TAB isn't on a spoofed site?

Seems that either Firefox should show the favicons in both places, or not show them at all.

But I further fail to see how either the presence or absence of a favicon indicates whether or not a site is spoofed, anyway.
