This function used to be on my browser. If I double clicked the right tab arrow, I would go to the last tab on the right. If double clicked the left tab arrow, I would go to the last tab on the left. It made no difference how many tabs were opened. Also, when I hovered the mouse over either of these arrows, a number appeared show how many tabs were hidden from view. I cannot recall what extensions did this or what it part of an earlier version of Firefox.

I would appreciate any help in resolving this problem. Thanks!

Since 3.6.13 is very insecure, if you use it on the wild wild web, have you considered upgrading that install to 3.6.28? http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older

You could test whether the "how many tabs" feature was the product of an add-on by restarting Firefox 3.6 in Firefox's Safe Mode (Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode).

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, close all Firefox windows and restart Firefox holding the Shift key. In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode." If the tab bar controls still indicate the number of hidden tabs, it was a built-in feature. If not, it was an extension. Some of those might have been migrated to Firefox 14, but some never were...

I do not have the desired solution, but what about keyboard shortcuts for tab switching?

Also, tab groups could be a solution too, if handling a large number of tabs is an issue.

Double-clicking does scroll the tab bar for me in Firefox 14, but hovering over the arrow doesn't display anything.

Can you double-check your actual Firefox version (e.g., in the Help > About dialog)? The forum received a useragent string indicating Firefox 3.6.13 which seems rather random. What version do you really have?

I have both Firefox 14 and Firefox 3.6.13 (see attached) on my computer. I use 3.6.13 more often since it runs faster than 14.

When I click once on a left or right arrow, the tabs move one over. When I double click on a left or right arrow, the tabs will move the length of the opened browser window. Regretfully, I cannot recall what additions or changes I had on 3.6.13 that might have provided the information of remaining tabs to the left or right of the opened browser window.

A triple click on a scroll button seems to move the focus to the first and last tab in Firefox 14.
A double click only moves a window at the time.
