why does it take NO LESS THAN THREE steps to get a new window? EVEN THEN, THERE IS NO MIC FOR VOICE INPUT OR SEARCH! That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen!

Your Android keyboard should have a mic button on it that you can long press to invoke the microphone for input. If not, you can try switching your keyboard to 'Google voice typing'.
