How do you add truesuite website log on to firefox 19? Or is it not supported?

more options

Between 3 browsers (Firefox, Chrome and IE9) I can only use the truesuite website log on add on on ie9. I wish to go to Firefox as my default browser but will not give up this feature. Is there some way of adding this add on to Firefox 19? I have done multiple searches on the web with no results, and the authentec website doesn't say. Any help is appreciated.

It appears that the publisher, Authentec, has discontinued the TrueSuite product.

In past threads, TrueSuite and HP Simple Pass have occasionally caused a problem with the address bar. However, as recently as Firefox 13, at least one user reported that TrueSuite was still working.

If you check the following tab, do you have a TrueSuite extension that's disabled?

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

If it can't be enabled, its internal compatibility range may not have kept up with Firefox updates. Sometimes extensions can be "hacked" to extend the range, but I would be very cautious here because if the extension is no longer maintained with security updates, you may be putting your login credentials at risk.

Hey Jscher, thanks for the reply.

Under the extension section, there is nothing. But then again I just installed the browser. In both ie9 and Chrome the truesuite website log on program is added automatically under the extension tab. I wasn't sure if there was a way I could manually do this, and if I could I wouldn't even know what file or file extension I would look for.

I think Authentec discontinued the product right after I bought it, and support for it about a year later. But I was hoping someone had found a way to make it work. I definately won't hack into it as I'm afraid it would make it security worthless.

The file names for Firefox extensions end with .xpi. If you can find the xpi for TrueSuite in one of its folders, you could try dragging and dropping it onto a Firefox tab to install it. (That used to work, but I haven't tested it recently.)

Thanks, jscher. I couldn't find a file extension of .xpi, so I guess it's not supported in firefox. I guess it's just not going to work. Thanks for all the help and advice.

It's possible that if you re-run the TrueSuite installer it will recognize the presence of Firefox and only then install the extension, but I wouldn't want you to lose your existing data. Perhaps if you search around for support threads on TrueSuite you can find out whether a reinstall is nondestructive.
