Making Firefox Start screen the default page when open new tabs

In the android tablet firefox, when we hit the "+" sign to add new tab, we're automatically taken to the "topsite/bookmarks/history" page. In order to get to the FF Start screen, we'd have to either look for it in the bookmarks or manually type "about:home".

Is there a way to get right to Firefox Start screen at launch of a new tab? After all, it's called the "Start screen".

hello yoshipop, yes you can do that - enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), search for the preference named browser.newtab.url and double-click & change its value to about:home.

the browser.newtab.url can't be found. Searching just "browser" pulls up a long list. It's not in the list either.

sorry, i didn't get that your question was referring to firefox on android. i don't think that this is possible at the moment, however there is work being done to unify the home screen & the screen that is showing up when you open a new tab or tap into the awesomebar...
