computer upgraded to Firefox 26. Can't play videos

I can't watch video or play Lumosity games. I have reset FF to original settings, but no luck. The problem started after the upgrade. I have tried safe mode, but no luck and also disabled plug-ins. Internet Explorer does work. I'm running Windows 7.

Does the area where the video should appear display any messages? For example, Flash crashed, etc., or just a black rectangle?

If you look at the left end of the address bar, before the padlock or globe icon, do you see any notification icons there? The ones that sometimes appear are the shield (indicating non-secure content in a secure page) and a Lego-like icon that lets you enable/disable relevant plugins.
