Thunderbird crashes with unable to save to Drafts (not trying to!)

I write an email but before sending I get an error message that unable to save to Drafts - I am still writing email. Cannot get out of Thunderbird without rebooting system. Happens all the time.

Unable to reply to an inbox message either.

Where is your Drafts folder located, on the server or local?

If TB hangs try to kill it via task manager.

What happens when you reply to a message?

What is your anti-virus s/w?
