For example for the website fantasyalarm.com I start typing 'alarm' in the awesome bar, when I select the site from my saved history it does a Google search, it doesn't go to the website I selected. Firefox 31, Mac.

None of the suggestions worked. I've downgraded to Firefox 30 and it doesn't happen but 31 it still does.

I've attached an screencap of an example of exactly what I'm doing. I'll type in "Supp" and select the 1st saved link from my history. Firefox in the past would then go to that site but now as you can see in the example it defaults to a Google search.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
