Hello,

One web browser based application only works when we start firefox in safe mode. When we start firefox normal it crashes. We are troubleshooting what add-on / plugin or setting is causing this problem. Is it possible in the meanwhile to start firefox in safe mode without that you get the message where you have to klick on start in safe mode. So that the users wont get any notification while we are troubleshooting.

Thx in advance.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:

  • all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
  • default theme is used (no persona)
  • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder in profile folder)
  • default toolbar layout is used
  • JavaScript JIT compilers are disabled (javascript.options.baselinejit)
  • hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
  • plugins are not affected
  • preferences are not affected
