I signed onto Firefox & message saying I had 2 viruses & to call XXX, Core IT Resolve. Legitimate message from Firefox Security? For $49.99 they claimed to be able to clean up my computer.

I let them access my computer remotely, and was shown a page with "Applications" at the top, and a list of 48,628 "events" (ERRORS and WARNINGS), which he said were going to crash my computer if I didn't get them cleaned out by letting them uninstall, then reinstall, everything. He also said the McAfee Security and Malwarebyte security we have is not good, and I need to change to Symentec Security system.

Did I open up myself by allowing him remote access? I did not provide my credit card info, as was requested for their "service".

edit: removed malicious phone numbers (philipp)

Firefox is a web browser and not a virus scanner. Also Mozilla dies not charge for any services nor use a third-party support service for anything.

That sounds like a fraud attempt to me. Ignore those messages and block popups. Anything that pops up spontaneously saying you have viruses and need our software is malicious and should be closed.
