I have about 2 gmail accounts, and when I tried to get up the gmail for my genealogy, I keep getting the same error message... "Configuration could not be verified -- is the username or password wrong?" I have tried the POP3 and the IMAP settings and keep getting the same message. I have checked my settings for the two other gmail accounts and they all work. When I checked online on how to do the settings, one site says to do this:

1. pop.gmail.com 

imap.gmail.com

a. smtp.gmail.com smtp.gmai.com

and the other site says to do this:

2. pop.googlemail.com imap.googlemail.com a. smtp.googlemail.com smtp.googlemail.com

and then when I click on the settings for IMAP, I keep seeing this message " USERNAME or PASSWORD INVALID" and I know that everything is right, so what am I doing wrong?

Google has some special considerations for TB to work. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-gmail

Also go to mail.google.com to see if you have a message about your login being blocked. If so, you have to allow 'less secure' applications before it will work.

My gmail settings are Server Settings imap.google.com 993 SSL/TLS Normal Password Outgoing Server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com 465 SSL/TLS Normal Password
