When I open Firefox, in Windows 10, from the taskbar icon, a second Firefox icon appears at the far right of the taskbar. I have read other people posting this issue and the answer has always been to unpin the original icon, pin the second icon and restart. I have tried this but I still get the second Firefox icon appearing in the taskbar when I open the browser. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Many thanks :)

This is a frustrating problem.

In another recent thread, the user reported that after making the change, it didn't seem to work until after shutting down and restarting Windows. See: Can't unpin Firefox icon from Windows 7 taskbar - new install.

In a thread on another forum, someone said they could cause this issue on Windows 10 by custom installing Firefox and not having the installer create any shortcuts. You probably didn't do that, but if you did, it sounds as though the only cure is to run the installer again and have Firefox create shortcuts: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=14292041#p14292041

Thank you for the responses. Uninstalling, restarting and installing again did the trick. I was trying to avoid doing that and hoping for a quick fix but at least I got there in the end. Cheers :)
