I have a group called group1 in my address book with 30 names. I want to create another group group2 which is exactly the same as group1 but with 1 name missing. Is there an easy way of doing this?

I'd try this. I'm using your word "Group" as shorthand for "Mailing List".

Create the new group, but close it leaving it empty. Make sure its icon is visible at the left.

Open the original group by selecting it so its contents are visible in the right-hand pane.

Click on one name to set focus then use ctrl+a to select all.

Use ctrl+click to deselect the unwanted name.

Drag the remaining selected names to the new group's icon.

You may try this add-on. Not sure if it works with TB 38 though. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/popmaillistrecipients/
