FireFox dares suggest to me which websites I might want in a newtab. Make it stop! Give me back my custom newtab url, dammit!

I just updated FireFox to 41.0.1. This update has overridden my preferred newtab URL, and I cannot find any way to revert to my preferred URL. I don't want FireFox making any suggestions to me about websites you think I might like. I am perfectly capable of finding my own websites without Big Brother looking over my shoulder.

Hi, from Firefox 41, you need to use the add-on New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.

Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

Note, if you only want the New Tab to be the same as your Home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage instead.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

Thank you for your help. I opted for the New Tab Override add-on. Works like a charm.
