Flash player keeps crashing, youtube videos won't load.

I keep trying to reset Firefox, enter it in safe mode, disable add-on/plug-ins and nothing works.

When I pull up a youtube video, the video stays on a black screen and the video thumbnails are plain white. Also loading is almost instantly stopped when pulling up a video. When I visit other websites (Gaia Online mainly) and I scroll over a tab that would normally drop down a list of links to click on, nothing is dropped/opened.

Firefox/Flash seems to crash at least a couple of times a day.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

I tried all of these except for disabling protected mode in the Flash plugin. I am having trouble with figuring out how to put the text into the file like it was saying... I found the file, but can't open it/change anything with it.

I also just uninstalled Firefox and Flash player, as well and reinstalled both of them and it's still having the same problem.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies
    Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.
  • Cache; Select Advanced > Network. Across from Cached Web Content, Press Clear Now.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Did you verify via the right-click context menu that YouTube is using the Flash plugin and not the HTML5 media player as would be the default in current releases?

Tried all clearing cache and all cookies, entered safe mode and disabled Hardware Acceleration, and still nothing. :(

Load the web page. On the video screen box, right click. Does it say flash, html5, something else?

I'm using internet explorer to check this because Firefox now crashes and closes instantly as I open it. Same with Internet Explorer most of the time now. I right clicked the video screen while in explorer since I can't even have firefox opened for 2 seconds and it does say HTML5 on the bottom of the box/window.

The video from YouTube in Explorer that I checked this with won't load the video either. Audio is fine, just a black screen with no video.

Right before I shut down my laptop before Firefox started crashing instantly when opened, it said something in a window about a Breakpoint...

Using Internet Explorer to check whether YouTube is trying to use Flash or use HTML5 in Firefox 42 won't tell you anything about your problem in Firefox.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.
