Firefox has suddenly started perma-crashing after years of problem free service!
I've been running Firefox on an old XP system for at least six years. And never, ever once had any problems with it. All of a sudden, tonight, I reboot the old machine - come back to it 20 minutes later and KERPOW. Crash crash crash! AFAIK it is Firefox version 43.0.1.
Firefox will apparently run as normal for 5 to 15 seconds, but then a crash prompt appears.
Rebooting - has not helped Unistalling/reinstalling Firefox - has not helped
Firefox still runs on another Windows 8.1 system. Have you done an update at around 9:00 to 10:00pm (GMT) 20th December 2015 that has finally abandoned and removed all compatability with Windows XP?
The error reporting system in this "crash report" all refused to work..... just helpfully informing me there was "a problem" sending the report to you.

yes, i'd encourage you trying to uninstall that software and see if the crashes on startup will stop then. the reason why is still under investigation, however early crash statistics from firefox 43 show that components that are part of this nvidia software and hook into the firefox process are noticeably increasing startup crashes on older windows systems. (so it would be a good match here as well)

hi, this is just a guess, but in case you have nvidia's network access manager software installed, please go into your system control panel and uninstall it (or go there and have look if it is listed there, if you're unsure about this). windows xp is still supported by firefox!

At least thats one thing, XP still lives on in Firefox world! I've found an "NVIDIA ForceWare Network Manager" not exactly the same wording as this "network access manager", and it was well hidden away as if it doesn't want to be uninstalled and was a very large program, and reported as being used "frequently"..... but I'll go try removing it now.....

PS/ Why would I suddenly need to remove it now? After six years? Surely this NVIDIA thing has been around all this time on my PC causing no trouble. What's changed?
Oh, I'm amazed it seems to have worked. For now anyway. I'm just worried what else will be upset about this forceware network thing being removed.
Using IE8 was so horrible, even for just a few hours..... :D It's not even as good as what would come out of a FIrefox's (when it don't do strange things like tonight) backside!
Thanks guys. Though I might be back again if anything else odd happens! :/ PS/ Still would like to now why after all these years things suddenly went wrong? What changed? A latest Firefox update tonight? Or does this NVidia Network thing also auto-update?

Aha! Yes I was editing my post even as you was replying....
It's a bit of weird one though, as I asked just then:- I'd till would like to now why after all these years things suddenly went wrong? What changed? A latest Firefox update tonight? Or does this NVidia Network thing also auto-update?
