Hi, there..

My website uses a "contact us" type mail, which arrives to me in the form of:

From: email address of person who completed the form To: my-email-address Reply-To: donotreply@mywebsite

If I select Reply, it defaults to the "Reply-to" address. If I select "Reply to all", it defaults to the "Reply-to" address If I select "Reply to list", it defaults to an empty value If I select "Reply to sender only", it defaults to the "Reply-to" address.

Basically, I can't ever get it to create a reply to the "From" field.

Any other incoming emails are fine.

This has worked for ages. It only started going wrong a little while back when I eventually updated from the VERY old version I was running on.

I'm now at the latest (38.5.0), and it's still displaying the issue.

I've tried various different reply extensions, but none let me over-ride the reply-to field.

Oh, and I'm using POP3 - not LDAP or anything remotely clever :)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Why not just remove the reply to information, or actually insert the clients email address into it.which would make the most sense

Hi, Matt..

Thanks for getting back to me.

I did consider this, but I'd need to decipher how the webform works.

The webform hasn't been changed since my site went online in 2001. I've been using Thunderbird since 2009, and it's only a recent update to Thunderbird that's caused the issue.

So I'd prefer - if possible - to fix the client side, since that's where the issue is.

I've implemented a workaround of sorts - I've installed the Header Tools Lite extension, and can modify the reply-to fleld.

Ideally, I'd like that to be automated, but I can live with it for now :)

I know this is your contact form completed by someone else, but it acts like an email from someone else to you saying do not use my from email address use the reply-to instead. Therefore If you receive an email where the Reply-to has been set, then you would expect the 'Reply-to' field to be auto inserted into the 'TO' field overriding the FROM.

The question you need to ask is why do you want to receive your contact form emails which tell you to Reply-To: donotreply@mywebsite, no matter who sends/completes the form?

I agree with Matt's advise.
