After opening Tbird inbox I commonly find many unwanted or uninteresting messages, and begin deleting them from the top. After four or five deletes, Tbird freezes, unresponsive to mouse or keyboard. I can wait it our (several minutes) or go to task manager, highlight the program, but not close it, and return to Tbird, and it resumes deleting unwanted messages, opening wanted ones, and so on. This occurs in Windows 10 professional, Tbird 38.70 and seems to reappear in this morning's update from 38.70.

Windows safe mode disables anti-virus software, which is most likely the culprit.
