Quicktime plug-in 7.7.9 update problem

more options

Add-ons Manager says QuickTime plug-in is 'potentially vulnerable' and red-button requires me to 'update now'. But I already have the latest available version - 7.7.9 - installed! Apple update site knows no later version. When I try to install 'the latest version' I am just given release 7.7.9 again. What am I supposed to update to? How do I resolve this??

hi Kuib, it is best to uninstall this plugin - it has critical vulnerabilities that are getting exploited, but apple isn't providing updates for it anymore on windows: http://blog.trendmicro.com/urgent-call-action-uninstall-quicktime-windows-today/ https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205771

Hi phillipp - yeah, I actually did know about this, but thought maybe there was a way round it. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet - or apple, as it might be. Many thanks for your time and help. KRs, Kuib.

It's strange, when I reinstall QuickTime on Windows 7, it no longer seems to be advertising the plugin to Firefox in the Windows Registry -- or Firefox is removing the registry entry??

Since you have the VLC plugin, you're probably covered anyway. If there are some QuickTime content types that VLC can't play, they might be willing to add them.
