Certain websites search boxes have white text on white background, how can I fix this?
I have tried setting the background colors and text colors in Firefox>Preferences>content>colors and have also set the override options to "always, never, and only with high contrast themes". I have changed the theme of Firefox to default and tried a couple of other themes. I've changed my system theme to everything ordinarily available and even added a few to see if it would help. No matter what I do the search box remains white on white.
In my hours of searching I have found some references to the .mozilla css file but can't find one in my system files.
The only thing I can do is type my search information on a notepad then copy and paste into the search bar. The text vanishes but clicking on the search button brings up my search information. It's getting to be a frustration.
I'm running Linux Fedora 23 KDE & Gnome and the problem persists in both. I've even installed "Stylish" in Firefox and there is nothing listed for the sites I'm having issues with. I would rather not waste time in the learning curve for "Stylish" if I can just fix the problem.
Any suggestions on how to fix it or where the mysterious css file might be?
Thanks.

Do you use an inverted theme with a dark background and white text colors?
What are the default colors set in the Options/Preferences?
- Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors.
"Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above"
No. I don't use an inverted theme. I have switched to several themes in an attempt to understand the problem but none of the themes, dark or light or high contrast have helped.
The color settings are Text = black Background = white Un-visited links = blue Visited links = purple
Two of the websites I'm having trouble with are:

That are the default color settings and would normally not pose a problem on a web page?
Can you post a link to a web page where you see this happen in case there is a problem with some CSS code?

So far these two are a problem and as far as I've been able to determine, it's only in the search boxes.
The input field on the forums.fedoraforum.org website only sets a background color
background: rgb(255, 255, 255) none repeat scroll 0% 0%;
Can you find any clues what is causing this white text?
You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Web Developer) with this element selected.

Do you see any CSS rules that set the white text color? Also check for user agent rules.
The problem has vanished as mysteriously as it appeared. The search boxes suddenly started working properly.
I'll leave the thread as unsolved for a while to see if the problem returns. I wish I would have been able to figure it out before something changed it again.
I will look at the user agent rules to see if there is anything suspicious looking there. I don't have a lot of experience with the rules and CSS but will make it a point to learn something about it.
Thanks for your help so far. I'll post any changes or revelations.
