Just installed FF - pages load as text only (links still show as URLs), no images / graphics. See attached image.

Other browsers ok (Chrome, IE).

I'm using a Dell X260, running Windows 8.1.

I searched around and suggestions include updating the graphics driver - my graphics driver is up to date (see attached image). I also have no installed extensions.

Any other suggestions ?

hi martinkulander, in case you're an eset user, please refer to the section about the software at How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites

Hi Philipp, I'm not receiving that error code. As far as I can tell, Mozilla is not running eset.

Thanks anyways.

can you get this url (which would contain the stylesheet for the new york times) to load or are you receiving an error message instead?: https://a1.nyt.com/assets/homepage/20160707-152600/css/homepage/styles.css

Thanks, philipp. Still not working - I had to add the link as "trusted site", and then it loaded as a bunch of text:

no, please don't add an exception. we'd need the exact error message to troubleshoot the issue. but coming back to eset - are you using that as your security solution on the device? if so follow the steps i have mentioned in my first reply anyway...

Ah I see what you mean.

I clicked through the security settings and can confirm that I am using ESET. The error message shown is "Could not verify this certificate because the issuer is unknown" when I click on "view certificate"

If you can't inspect the certificate via "Add Exception" then try this:

Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:

  • chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul

In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website with the https:// protocol prefix (https://xxx.xxx).

  • retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
  • click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer

You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then please attach a screenshot that shows the Certificate Viewer with the issuer.

ESET is one of several programs that filters browsing connections using a "man-in-the-middle" approach. Usually ESET will set up Firefox to trust its fake certificates but if that didn't happen, you can do it manually.

It's been a while since I checked the ESET documentation, but here's a post from January: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1106975#answer-837219
