After getting some malware/adware I am unable to change my new tab url (using addons of any sorts, as firefox doesn't have newtab.url preference anymore). I have run malwarebytes and spyhunter 4 to remove some of the issues (such as changing homepage). However the new tab keeps resetting to stargo123.com. I have also tried refreshing firefox using the troubleshooting, but that didn't help.

Hi, you need to get rid of Stargo, so try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Note that not all removal programs will detect all malware, so you may need to run several or all of them.

After removal you may need to reset your home page and search, which you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Also check your Firefox Desktop shortcut for corruption: Right click on it > Properties, and in Target, make sure there is no sign of Stargo - if there is, delete Stargo from it, or if it's easier, you can delete and recreate a new shortcut.

Seems like AdwCleaner did it. Thankyou :)
