how to open ftp site in windows file explorer from FF
my company has an ftp site for large file transfer. NORMALLY, our people use IE to open the location, then select VIEW menu, then click on Open FTP site in Windows Explorer. Lately we have user preferring to use FireFox, however there is not an option in FF to open in Windows Explorer that I know of. It would be VERY cool if there is a way to do it!

Generally speaking, Firefox can send everything URL with a particular protocol to another application, such as mailto:, but there's no way to open one particular link in a different application.
If possible, I think it would be easiest for the user to add a favorite place to Windows Explorer for the FTP site and access it that way.

That is what I kind of figured. Thanks so much!
trying to edit top sites button in new tab. even though hovering shows this file///C:/Users/walter/Downloads, it is actually trying to go to http://file///C:/Users/walter/Downloads as seen in the address bar, above and when I try to re-edit the button in Top Sites, it shows as http://file///C:/Users?walter/Downloads, which of course, does NOT work. I am not sure if this is a limitation of how Top sites works. any ideas? Thanks, Walt
Hi Walt, could you start a new question on this? It seems to be a different issue (file:// instead of ftp://) and also this thread is already marked solved.
As you know, you can use the ASK A QUESTION link at the top of a page here, or try this link:
