The add attachment dialogue does not show a search field where I can type in the attachment location. Is there an option to enable this?

I'm using version 52.4.0 and recently upgraded my system from ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. Previously, when composing an email with an attachment file, I could type in the location in the field available in the attachment dialogue similar to the Name field when saving a file. But now the add attachment dialogue just has a point and click directory navigation instead of both text entry and point and click. Is there an option in the config editor to turn the search/name field back on?

My co-worker has a work around, ctrl-L toggles the location view to be an entry field. Thanks for taking a look!

Mine (Debian/Mate) has an "Enter location" option. Anything like that there?

That is what mine used to have, but no location entry now...wonder if it is a system property somewhere else?
