Why didn't Thunderbird update to version 52?
I had version 32 of Thunderbird installed. Today when I opened the app, it automatically updated to version 38.5. Why did it not update to version 52 which I gather is the latest? How do I get version 52?

You are to far behind for the updater to do it automatically. To update you will need to install Thunderbird from getthunderbird.com
EMail and settings are not affected by installing another version, just as they are not removed when you uninstall.
