How can I disable search history without disabling any other histories?
I recently noticed that my search history had a huge number of remembered queries. I don't really care to see previous searches in my list. Is there a way to configure Firefox to clear that without wiping out any of my other histories? I like having browser history and I don't want it to clear out my auto-complete stuff in forms, but I do want it to wipe out my search history. When looking at settings, it appears the Form and Search history are tied together. That doesn't make sense to me. Is there a flag in about:config I can toggle to just wipe out search history on browser restart, leaving the rest intact? I use the separate search box and have disabled the "awesome bar."

Wow, that extension looks overly complicated for what I want to accomplish. I did some digging into the sqlite files and found that this information is stored in the formhistory.sqlite file in my profile directory. I'm just writing a basic tool that will open that db file and wipe out the 'searchbar-history' items only.

Search history and saved form data are combined, so it isn't easy to remove only the search history.
You can look at this extension:
- Form History Control
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/form-history-control/
