In the Firefox the "chrome" is any visible aspect aside from the webpages themselves (e.g., toolbars, menu bar, tabs) - the User Interface / UI. Firefox uses the "chrome://" URI protocol to access internal files and uses "chrome" in other cases like userChrome.css and userContent.css files which can be used to modify the UI.

Not to be confused with the Google Chrome web browser. Google hired a few Mozilla developers early on in their development of the open-source Chromium project for use as their new web browser and they decided to use "Chrome" for the Google branded version of Chromium. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_%28web_browser%29

It's likely that another software on your computer installed Google Chrome on your computer, although they usually warn you first. Google pays some software developers to include Google Chrome during the software installation process.

For example, if you install Avast Anti-Virus, it will want to install Google Chrome on your computer, unless to specify not to. In some cases, this will also be set as the default browser.

This sounds like what has happened in your case, but likely with another software and it likely wasn't obvious that Google Chrome would be installed, or maybe it wasn't even asked. However, Firefox certainly doesn't install Google Chrome on your computer.

Mozilla Firefox or Firefox for short and Google Chrome or Chrome for short are completely separate web browsers.

If it is about your Homepage set in Firefox web browser then you can change it https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

I did not add any new software.

The address listed Google chrome as my browser address when I opened my fire fox, but this part I left out I got a immediate message unable to connect, that is when I noticed the address change, I also fixed the problem by using the tools and going to the home section and changing the home page back to fire fox, it says fire fox default, I am hoping it will stay as fire fox upon the next up date. or google will get a nice spanking on their seat aka butt.

Google Chrome is a completely separate web browser from the Firefox web browser. Neither Firefox nor Chrome are web sites or search engines. The Firefox web browser does not make use of "Google Chrome" web browser in any way in order to work.

What was the exact address in the Location (address) bar you were seeing. The Location (address) bar is the same place where you would see for example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1247511 for this thread or www.example.com

If it was a chrome:// then it has nothing to do with Google Chrome. The Chrome:// urls have existed in Mozilla products for a decade before Google Chrome was even released from Google in 2008. Google liked the name Chrome and used it for their web browser.

These are examples of chrome:// urls. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Chrome_URLs http://kb.mozillazine.org/Dev_:_Firefox_Chrome_URLs

Or maybe what you saw was a page where Google was the Search Engine. In this case you can change the Search Engine Firefox will use. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-your-default-search-settings-firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-or-remove-search-engine-firefox
