Multi-account container add-on not working with PayPal since Firefox 65

I've organized a lot of my websites by using containers and everything worked fine. Since version 65 however when I use PayPal as my payment method at check-out, I'm not correctly re-routed to the merchants website. Here's what happens: I click the PayPal button, login to PayPal, and confirm the payment. But instead of being redirected to the merchants shopping cart to finish my purchase, I'm presented with an empty shopping cart and a message from the merchants site actually saying that my shopping cart is empty. The transaction doesn't go through, may PayPal account is not charged. However, when I reload the merchants order page my shopping cart still contains the items I wanted to buy. I've had this issue with various merchant sites. I also made sure the latest multi-container add-on version was installed. When I used Chrome instead of Firefox all these transactions went through without a hitch. So, I did a Firefox Refresh (lost all my containers of course) and tried an order with PayPal without the multi-container add-on installed and it worked just fine.

So, my guess is, that something with F65 and the multi-container add-on is out of sync.

Thanks for your help

You would have to check the settings of this extensions or its FAQ page to see whether/how this is covert. Container are meant to keep websites apart and prevent interacting or access to its cookies.

If you run websites in a specific container and websites need to interact then all these websites need to run in the same container. The multi-container extension keeps cookies for each container separate from other containers, so if PayPal works in another container or at least not in the same container as the websites with the shopping carts then this won't work. I don't know if you can add a specific website to more than one container in case your shopping websites are in multiple containers.

This makes totally sense and I thought about that too. PayPal was running in a container "Finance" and the merchants website was in no container at all because it was a one-off purchase. Other more frequently used sites are in a "Shopping" container. The only reason I was bringing this up is that I'm under the impression that this scenario worked before F65. Maybe it was and now it is working as it is supposed to. Not a 100% sure. Maybe I should put PayPal into the "Shopping" container and put whatever one-off site I'm using also into the same container before I add anything into the shopping cart and then do the checkout. It's a bit cumbersome to do that for one-off purchases but that should work.

Thanks
