Without fail, 100% - Every - email I receive from doctors, hospitals and medical people Thunderbird responds "Thunderbird thinks this email is a scam". I would get 20 emails per week from such people. No matter how many times I say "this is not scam", emails from the same domain are still marked as suspected scams.

On occasion, I've missed important emails, and even an appointment or two, because the emails have ended up in my junk folder as well.

How do I permanently stop this for emails I receive from over 3 dozen different organizations? It only does this for medical related emails, or at least, Thunderbird hasn't seen any others that it thinks are scams.

thank you.

What is your account type - POP or IMAP?

the scam feature has two settings. On and off. it has no white list or capacity to learn what is a scam from your actions. It also does not place mail into the junk folder. That is done by the SPAM filter.

My guess is the emails from your medical folks have web trackers embedded in them to track your opening the email that triggers the scam filter. Unfortunately some medical groups do not care about your privacy, only their desire to know everything about you.

As for mail going into junk, if the sending address is in your address book then Thunderbird will never treat it as spam.

Yes, you're right, I had specific emails for certain domains in my filters. I'll change those to just domain names so they all get through with out being junked.

I know I have set "never send a return receipt", but I guess that is not what you are talking about. Is there anyway to combat the web trackers? I already do not show remote content in emails, but I guess that isn't enough

Otherwise, I guess I have to turn off the scam filter.

POP3.

Spam filtering (not scam) is also happening on the server. With POP an email client such as Thunderbird has only visibility of Inbox on the server. Therefore the spam filter on the server may filter messages into the spam folder on the server. If that happens, you'll never see those messages in Thunderbird. Therefore make sure to login to your account via webmail, and check the spam folder on the server for false positives on a regular basis.

Sorry @christ1 I don't know what your response is about. I'm not missing emails. spam/junk filtering is done at my end. I have disabled junk filtering at the webmail end because it incorrectly classifies a large percentage of inbound emails as junk.

My concern is about sCam warnings in Thunderbird.

I already don't use html, I don't allow remote content and my view setting is set to simple.

I going to write to some of the people sending these emails, but I suspect they have no control over this. They are just employees. This is probably going to be something their IT people have set up.
