I recently installed Thunderbird and set up an IMAP account on AOL Mail. A problem I have is when I send an email, a copy of it shows up in my Inbox. I went to Copies & Folder in account settings and unchecked the box "Place a copy in," but sent messages still appear in my Inbox. Outgoing messages also appear in my Sent folder, so I end up having two copies.

It dawned on me the reason a copy of the sent e-mail appears in my Inbox is that I sent a test e-mail to my gmail account, and I have gmail set to forward incoming massages back to my account on the AOL mail server from which I sent the message. This was one of those facepalm moments.

where is AOL placing their copy. Yahoo (which is aol for all intents and purposes) place a copy in the sent folder so it contains two copies. But I really would not put anything over the incompetence I am seeing at yahoo with mail in the last few years.
