I was trying to install Firefox on a new laptop (Windows OS) when I ran into this problem. Whenever I try to open the app, it seems to open but the window immediately closes within the next second - I only see a brief flicker of white. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, but I keep on running into this issue. I tried opening in troubleshoot mode by holding shift down when opening the app, but that also produces similar results (brief flicker of popup and immediate closing).

I tried downloading Google Chrome and that browser works perfectly, so does Microsoft Edge. I tried accessing crash reports by searching for Report IDs (following the instructions in [article] this article) but I get a message saying Windows cannot find that folder.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

Install both 32-bit and 64-bit "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019" downloads, (x86: vc_redist.x86.exe and x64: vc_redist.x64.exe) from https://support.microsoft.com/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

I downloaded both of them and and restarted my laptop. When I tried to open Firefox again, it started and stayed open for about 15 seconds (long enough for me to try and log in), but it crashed again. Now it's back to briefly opening and closing with a brief flicker.

I have installed both of these and restarted my laptop. When I tried to start Firefox again, the browser opened and stayed open long enough for me to attempt to log in (about 10-15 seconds) before crashing again. Every subsequent time I've tried to start up Firefox just results in my cursor's blue spinning wheel popping up for a second or two and nothing else.
