I receive numerous emails from one individual. He always sends from the same address (webmaster@fvwwc.org). But on the message list window, he shows up with no less than 4 different "Correspondent" names. In the message window, the From: line gives whatever correspondent name has been given and right beside that <webmaster@fvwwc.org>. So if I sort my received messages by correspondent to find something he sent, his emails end up in 4 different positions on the list. Now, he is not changing how he sends his email. How do I get Thunderbird to assign him just ONE correspondent name? Where is this translation table hidden? If it matters, his correspondent names are: FVWW Webmaster, FVWWC Webmaster, Webmaster@FVWWC, and webmaster@fvwwc.org (the only correct one).

I would guess you have more than one entry in the address book. That is usually why addresses don't appear as they are sent. But I do suggest you have a look in the message source (ctrl+U) just to ensure the from address is not changing in its display name part. ie the sender has a different display name on their phone, laptop and tablet email clients all using the same email address Not every provider is like outlook.com and substitutes what they have stored for that information when the mail is sent through their SMTP servers.
