Is there a way to hide the subfolders other than inbox for gmail?
Is there any way to reduce the space that Gmail accounts take? from my own domain (the top account), it can all be closed to "inbox" but Gmail seems to feel the need to take up far too much space. Other than unsyncing these subfolders, is there a way to put them all in one folder?
thanks!

Right-click each Inbox and set it as a Favourite Folder, then View/Folders/Favourite Folders, and move them to the top of the Folder Pane if All Folders is also selected.

Your "own domain" places all the folders as sub folder of the inbox. This is actually a rather uncommon setup for an IMAP server (there is one notable US ISP that does it) with most giving the other essential folders an equal billing in the folder tree.
My personal opinion is your preferred layout is "odd" simply because I have never seen it in action it is so uncommon. But google certainoly do not offer any option to move folders to hang off the inbox, so obviously you can not collapse them.

THANK YOU @sfhowes for two things: 1. Being kind instead of condescending. 2. Understanding what it was that I was trying to accomplish but didn't even know was possible, so had no idea how to ask.
The world needs more people like you!
If what I told you is condescending, I am unapologetic. I told you the plain unvarnished truth and answered your question as asked entirely accurately.
I make no apologies that I was unable to read your mind.
While adding them to Favorites does fix the issue, it means I have to 'favorite' all the folders EXCEPT Drafts, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail on 5 email accounts. These folders were nicely hidden in a drop down menu until recently. I am not sure why TB changed this - but please - if anyone knows of an add-on or EASIER option to change it back PLEASE post it.
I do not want to change the gmail settings to not show in IMAP. I want the option to access them in TB but I don't need them on screen at all times.
NO Matt. The OPs layout is NOT uncommon or odd and I also found your response to be condescending. Try a spelling and grammar check before posting.

I hunted for a while trying to find something. I tried a couple of addons - nothing did what you and I want it to. Gmail has *never* been hidden in a drop down for me though. It wasn't a problem until I started using a few more gmail accounts and then it all started to take up too much room. If you ever find anything that changes it, I'd LOVE to know!!
It shouldn't surprise me how often that condescending attitude shows up around here. But it always does. Last time it was someone telling me that I shouldn't use the word "hate" because it was too strong a word. 🙄 At least the "non-apologies" are always good for an eyeroll and a laugh.
There's a long discussion about changing the gmail folder pane layout, and a suggestion to add a preference to switch between the new and old format. But so far there's no official plan to implement it.

Once again, thank you!
Is there a way to upvote this so it gets more attention? it looks like it's been waiting for review since Nov 5 and I'd love to express how NOT odd it is to desire a fix 😉
At the bottom of the bug, it says "You need permission to comment on this closed bug." I don't know who grants permission, and I can't recall a feature that was ever reversed in response to user requests.
