Today, only with Firefox open, I get a CONSTANT loud siren (like Super Mario). I uninstalled then reinstalled...siren still there. I didn't eliminate bookmarks, should I do that? Is there any way to backup my bookmarks before I kill them? Most important, will killing personal settings then reinstalling cure the siren?

Do you have the Cool Previews addon installed? Google has a Pacman game on their home page today and I had to uninstall the addon and the siren noise stopped.

I have the same problem too but mine sounds like Pac-Man and not Super Mario......
I'm currently doing a scans of my comp to see if it's a virus/spyware or not.
OOh! Thanks Kim for the tip, I uninstalled mine and installed the fixed version of Cool Previews and it works thank you!
It's just the Google homepage tribute to Pacman turning 30 today. A playable game starts up automatically, use the arrow keys to move Pacman. It's fun!
You can get Ms Pacman to appear in that game by clicking the "insert coin" button twice and using the WASD keys to move :)
You can also just change your homepage to something other than google until tomorrow.
You're welcome! I didn't even have the Google home page open and it was happening because I have the Google Toolbar.
