I want to import my favorites from internet explorer, but under the File menu, impot is greyed out.

Under the file menu on Firefox, the command "import" is greyed out; so I cannot get to the step of importing favorites. What do I do?

Another option is to use IE to export your Favorites to an HTML file, and then you can import that using Bookmarks > Organizer.

In IE, use File > Import and Export... (that's the name in IE7, don't have IE8 on this PC)

I am running Safari under OS X 10.6.4. No I.E.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
