Hello.

I installed a new free software app and it had an option to add a competitor of Firefox's toolbar and change the home page, I believe. I first unchecked it but because of a hiccup during the installation, the checks reappeared and I couldn't change it.

Now, every time I click to get a new tab, FF's competitor's search box is on the page.

Q: How can I change it back to blank ? I've found out that it is not the home page feature and I don't see where to make the change in the tab preferences.

Thanks.

Is there a name for that "competitor" or are we supposed to guess?

The question is, what are the steps to get back to a blank page, hence removing the current unwanted content when clicking to get a new tab?

FF's competitor did not create the issue, so I don't believe it is fair to name them.

Thanks.

By default Firefox opens a blank page when you open a new Tab. Un-installing whatever extension that "competitor" installed is a good place to start.

Thanks for your reply.

I uninstalled the main software which I didn't get it to work in the limited time I had. I may try later, though. The toolbar and that page on the new tab were not part of the uninstall routine.

Hopefully, there is another way to revert back to the blank page.

Thanks.

UPDATE:

Hello.

I found that the installation of the toolbar was a separate app that was found in Windows uninstall programs; so I did. I now have the blank page back. Yeah!

Thanks for the info that indicated that it may have been a separate app which I subsequently looked even further.
