my address bar is missing as is my options (tools help etc) and < and > keys on top left corner
when i open firefox there is no address bar, the blue arrow keys are missing too and the google search box in the top right corner is gone. also my options list is missing too (file edit favourites etc)

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar & Navigation toolbar, so they have a check-mark.
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.
