Font seems to be smaller and very high contrast. It is hard to tell bold text from unbolded text. This makes it very had to tell new from old mail.

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
Which graphics display card do you have?
Try to disable hardware acceleration.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
