I downloaded FF5 but and executed the file - but when I opened up FF again it was the same old version, not the FF5

You posted here with Firefox 5.0. What makes you think you have an older version?

because it does not have any of the new features- it still looks and operates like FF4. I just googled up a question and was brought to this forum.
