Why won't my browsing history clear from the "All Pages" tab, ever, no matter how long I wait?
When I clear history, I get a dialog box that states that it might take a couple of minute to clear the history in the "All Pages" tab, but no matter how long you wait, it never does. It doesn't matter if you quit & restart FireFox, or if you reboot the phone.

I encountered this problem too. (FF7.0.1, latest at time of post). I'd chosen to clear "today" and some selective aspects.
I don't have a solution, but found that for me, it works when the pick list which lets you select which aspects of your history you wish to clear is collapsed -ie not dropped down.
I haven't tested extensively, so there may be other complications but it might be worth a try....
I've tried with the pick list collapsed, and I've tried it clearing each of the items under the expanded pick list, but it doesn't work either way...
We are tracking an issue with the clearing of private data. For now you can use the System Application Window to clear Firefox settings.
