Is there a way to disable the Password Manager in FF8 so it won't ask for a Master Password
I would like to keep the Password Manager available (for certain websites that are saved), but don't want it active all the time. When I open a website, FF asks for the "Master Password for the Security Device". Most of the time, I simply cancel the request, but I would prefer not having to go through this step. Can the default be set to not ask?

You can toggle the Remember Passwords for sites setting off during the time that you do not want to use the password manager and only enable it if you need to login to a website.
I do that with a toolbar button on the PrefBar toolbar that I'm using (signon.rememberSignons).

- Go to Firefox/Tools>Options>Security
uncheck
- Remember Passwords for sites
- Use a Master Password

I don't think that will solve my problem. I have a number of passwords saved which I would occasionally like to access. The way I understand it, by unchecking "Use Master Password" those passwords would simply become available at any time without any security. I would like to keep them secure but use them (and the Password Manager) only when I consciously choose to.
