Since upgrading to Firefox 10 and on the subsequent upgrade, when I log out of firefox my desktop is totally unresponsive then after a few minutes works normally again. I use Vista and didnt have the problem with earlier versions.

Thanks again cor-el your solution certainly did improve things, in the end I uninstalled firefox completely (using revo to remove the registry entries as well) and then did a fresh install, which has cured the problem.

If you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the Cookies then try to exclude the cookies to see if that helps and instead let the cookies expire when you close Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" > [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
