When downloading files firefox goes into not responding mode, consistently during the download of the file can someone tell me how to fix this.

Everytime I go to download a file, firefox would go download a little then go into not responding mode, for about 20 - 30 seconds then download a little bit more, then go into not responding mode again. This happens on all my downloads.

I never had this problem until I upgraded to firefox 10.

I'm experiencing this often too, but here's some reasons why: 1) It's a large file (over 100 MB). 2) Depends on system resources (someone confirm this eventually?) 3) Anti-Virus is scanning the file, and You're having a lot, or heavy programs/software open meanwhile. 4) There's a break in the internet connection or connection to the server, Firefox then retries some times but runs into a dead loop. - Often this is fixed fast, as there might be a 2-5 second break on the internet/connection to server.

I've begun to accept it, there's nothing much I can do about it anyhow.

You may have security software that is scanning the file during the download and not after the download has finished and prevents Firefox from adding new chunks to the file.
