Since the update to version 11, I have had a serious problem with Firefox completely locking up and crashing when the following occurs:

I have multiple tabs open. I close them one at a time. When I close the SECOND LAST tab the whole thing locks up.

There is no troubleshooting info because 'task manager' is required shut it down.

When I reopen Firefox, it reopen EVERY SINGLE TAB I had previously closed before the crash.

Try to start Firefox in Safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works find in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. you can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

If that doesn't help, please read Firefox crashes, and see if the information there helps.

I DO know how to read and I've already tried what you just copied and pasted from the Mozilla website with the EXACT SAME RESULT.

Ok, well, the forum says you are running Firefox 3.5.3, which is extremely old, out of date and unstable, so just confirming you are running Firefox 11?

If you type about:crashes into your address bar, can you copy and paste the crash id's from there? (they start with bp-)

Do you understand English?

I HAVE ALREADY DONE EVERYTHING THAT 'FIREFOX CRASHES' HAS SAID TO TRY.

In addition, there is NO CRASH REPORT because I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.

Your forum obviously has serious errors because this is what I am running:

(Considering this computer has been running Firefox for LESS than one year, it is NOT EVEN POSSIBLE for me to have EVER had a version that low)

Please calm down and keep this respectful. I don't have any of your crash ID's, you never posted them to this thread, so I have no way of looking at them to analyze what is causing the crash. If you simply copy those crash id's and past them here, I can look at them and maybe find out a cause of the problem.

And, I have no idea of knowing how old your computer is, how long you'd Firefox or anything. It appears your user agent is messed up, but you are running Firefox 11 so that was all I needed to check. Please, again, keep this a calm and respectful tone. I want to help you and get you back up and running, but if you don't calm down I can't do that.

Also, is Firefox freezing (it stays open but is non-responsive) or crashing (closing without any input from you). It sounds like it is freezing (in which case there is no crash id).

A complete freeze IS what is occurring.

Ok, so Freezing, that helps me now. Not a crash, a freeze.

Alrighty then, I'm just going to have you do this then. Can you please create a fresh testing profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles, start Firefox using the profile, and then see if it freezes there?

For your version "problem" your user agent is corrupted and that identifies you as Firefox/3.5.3

see your User Agent

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

you must reset user agent, see in the link the "Other causes" to do that easily

thank you
