Any time I try to load a page in Firefox, even if it's just one tab and no other desktop application is running, Firefox loads it, and after a few seconds, it freezes. The only way to escape from that is via Task Manager, End Process.

Reinstall firefox, if doesn't works probably there is something crashing the firefox. Try using firefox in security mode and disable add-ons and plugins, then open it again in normal mode.

Please reply if it works.

hey CBQMusic, this may probably be due to the recent update of adobe's flash plugin to version 11.3. it has caused similar problems and hangs for some other users.

you can try to remove flash 11.3 from the windows control panel/programs section & downgrade to a prior version until adobe fixes those issues.

I tried the security mode and it still froze. Then reinstalled, ran ccleaner to clean (oh, redundancy) my disk drive and registry and it still froze. I am at my job's computer, at home I have a Dell Inspiron 15R Core i3 first gen, running Windows 8 Release Preview 64bits, and Firefox 13.0.1 runs fine, with plug-ins and addons and lots of tabs. That's why I think it's the brower-OS combo.

please also make sure that your security software isn't sandboxing or blocking firefox or the plugin-container in any way...

Same issue for 3 out of my 90 end users using Firefox 13.0.1. (On XPSP3, 7x64SP1 and 7x86SP1)

Safe mode: No change Remove all plugins: No change Reset profile: No change Manually trash profile & rebuild from scratch: No change

The only thing that seems to help has been to uninstall 13.0.1 and backrev them to 3.6.28. All other browsers and apps seem to function just fine, only FF 13.0.1 seems to be affected and only for this small subset of end users..

Also, truth to be told, I had been updating through the beta channel before installing Firefox 13. The problem started with Firefox 14 beta, so I uninstalled it, ran ccleaner, download and installed Firefox 13 and the issue persisted. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to do a clean install of Windows in this machine, to see if that solves my problem (if the issue presented itself at my home laptop, I would have done a clean Windows install before opening this thread).

It seems it really is a flash issue. After disabling all add-ons and plug-ins, and reinstalling Firefox 13.0.1, it worked fine. Then, trying to watch a youtube video, it prompted me to install flash. I did, but this time it didn't install the previous 11.3.200 version, but the 11.3.300 version. Guess what? Crash. Uninstalled flash and problem solved, again.
