Adobe Flash crashes, continually causes Firefox 13.0.1 to crash
Firefox continually crashes (approx. 6-8 times a day or more) due to Adobe Flash player crashing.
I'm running Firefox 13.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11.3.300.262
I noticed that since the second-to-last update of Flash Firefox has been crashing a lot. Before that Firefox crashed 'only' once a day or so.
Over the past few months I've read just about every thread related to Flash & Firefox and I'm not about to spend hours troubleshooting stuff, trying to disable hardware acceleration, etc, etc. I've done that before when the Flash-crash issue started a couple of months ago. (Also, Firefox is sometimes sending you automated crash reports, so you should have that data.) I would expect Firefox to simply "work" reasonably well, and as of the past couple of months or so, it hasn't.
W.T.F, Mozilla? I've used your browsers (Netscape) since the early 90s and have been quite happy - until recently, that is. As of now I'm having to go back to using Internet Explorer.
I sincerely hope Mozilla can finally resolve this issue as I still believe Firefox could be a great browser if it didn't "fight" with Flash all the time.

Thanks to all of you. I had the same problem. Update both Firefox (15) & Flash player (14.4). Then Disable hardware acceleration in Flash as said by AliceWyman as in earlier reply....
1. Right-click on any Flash video or animation (or on the Flash logo on this Adobe help page). 2. Click "Settings" and uncheck “Enable hardware acceleration" in the Display tab.
All these suggestions are ... nice but I suspect way over the head of most "normal" users. All they see is a buggy browser, rightly or wrongly so, even more annoyingly so because the plugin check tool in Firefox encourages people to upgrade to the latest version of everything.
It may well be down to Adobe but if Firefox wants to live up to its promises, then it needs to communicate such things to the user in the browser when it happens. The "Oops, Flash crashed" message doesn't cut it.
Or maybe go back to a slower release cycle and test stuff a bit more...

I agree with you. My personal opinion is that the official documentation was not the best. To my mind it did not seem sensible to advertise using Firefox's plugin check, and to advise keeping Flash up-to-date, whilst at the same time admitting that using Flash 10.3 was a solution to many problems and recommending downgrading.

With the benefit of hindsight maybe it would have helped if the rapid release cycle did not start of with such a frequent 6 week update, but most of the related teething-troubles have probably now been overcome.
This thread is about Adobe FlashPlayer, the salient point is Adobe is an independent third party software developer. If we as Firefox users wish to use Adobe software then we have to put up with the problems. We need to accept Flash Player will not always be flawlessly compatible with Firefox. (On Linux Adobe has ceased/reduced support/development and IIRC there may be problems relating to Android)
