How can I make a bookmark folder that ONLY holds bookmarks with a certain tag(s) and ignore title and description? I tried everything!

I want to create a saved search folder (the blue one) that, for example, automatically stores all bookmarks tagged by me as 'blog'. What it does now, is not just collect the tagged pages, but also all bookmarks that have the word 'blog' in the tite or description.

second example: I tag sites about software with 'software' and sites about writing with 'writing'. Now I want a folder that will only store bookmarks about software used for writing, but I cant figure out how to make a search folder that will collect only bookmarks tagged as both 'software' AND 'writing'. Either I get a lot of unwanted entries that have those words in the title or description, or I click the lable 'software' and get all my photoshop plugin bookmarks as well.

Surely what I want should be possible somehow? Why else even use tags in the first place?

hello Thalia0123, when you go to firefox > bookmarks there should already be a list of used tags shown in the library. just drag & drop one of these tags you want to use onto a toolbar or another folder...

I tried that, but all it did was move the tags to the folder (I dont use toolbars by the way, my screen is small enough as it is unfortunately). I dont get combined results.

For example: I want two folders. One must hold all bookmarks tagged 'software' and 'photoshop', while the other one holds all bookmarks tagged 'software' and 'blogging tools'. If a site is only tagged one out of two, its not tall enough to go on this ride.

For some reason, I can not accomplish this.

Also, if at all possible, I would like a folder that collects everything tagged 'blogging tools' AND 'software', but NOT 'web app'

I usually solve problems like these in my sleep, but in firefox tags, I may have met my match...

hello, for advanced functionality you might want to try the following addon : https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tagsieve/ (a newer version is available at http://dev.grue.in/projects/tagsieve/files).

edit: i've tried it myself now, but unfortunately can't find a way to save that searches for smart folders...

Thank you for searching the add-ons for me (god knows I love them!), but tagsieve has been rendered unusable since firefox 14. And to be honest, I don't think I should have to rely on an add-on for something that should be a basic functionality. If tags function a certain way in all other sites and programs, shouldn't they function the same in firefox?

Thanks for that link! I have no idea why I couldn't find it myself. Trust me, I tried ;)

I think I can make this work somehow.... maybe.... I'm pretty technical. Those with less skill will probably just stare at it like a deer caught in the headlights.

"My mind is going, Hal; I can feel it..."

I do hope this can be fixed somehow.

edit: I'll try the link first before clicking solved, because I'm not sure if I can do this without my brain imploding.
