There have been times when click on a link or select an item from my bookmarks where the page I was trying to open was blank and the address I was trying to go to was in the location bar. When the page didn’t load after a few seconds I highlighted the address in the location bar and clicked or hit enter on my keyboard and the page opened as it should. My problem is when this happens and I do the same on some secure pages they terminate and when I try to reload them I get the same results. One of the non secure pages I have had this happen with is a short cut in my bookmarks to a Yahoo game page that uses java applets and the secure page I have problems with has java script in it that opens a second secure page at another domain with an ASP.net form embedded in it where secure information is transferred and automatically populates to the ASP.net form for use that session only.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

I have had version 22 installed and it didn't work either and the reason I am using version 18 is not all the plug-ins I use work with that version and starting with version 20 the theme compact classic will not display the toolbar orientation as it should even though the developer for that plug-in has released a later version that is designed to work on the later versions of Firefox.

In continuing to play with the secure page that consistently loads blank when I display the page properties I can see all the information that should display on the page so I am lead to believe its just a minor quirk.

I am in the process of doing this and as soon as I know something I will report back.

Hi mkhcpa@swbell.net, regarding the Classic Compact theme, an update was issued for Firefox 20 in April. The theme site and support thread do not mention any problems with Firefox 22.

If your themes and extensions do not update automatically, try using this menu:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > "gear" icon > "Check for Updates"

I upgraded to Firefox 22 and went to the secure site in safe mode after making sure all cookies and catch was cleared the page loaded blank and when I selected page information all the information seem to be there but not being displayed and the location bar never updated with the new secure address.
